Modern Moroccan & Zellige Fusion

Modern Moroccan & Zellige Fusion

This style is a heartfelt tribute to the ancient art of Moroccan Zellige. It’s all about embracing the beauty of the "imperfect"—those tiny variations in color and texture that tell a story of craftsmanship. By blending these traditional, jewel-toned tiles with clean, modern lines and natural wood, we create bathrooms that feel like a private sanctuary. It’s a design choice that prioritizes soul and tactile warmth, turning a functional space into an atmospheric retreat that celebrates heritage with a contemporary twist.

In this first design, I love how the deep teal Zellige tiles create a shimmering, watery backdrop that instantly calms the senses. The vertical placement adds a modern height to the room, while the floating light-oak vanity keeps things feeling airy and grounded. The circular mirror with its simple black frame is the perfect finishing touch, acting like a window into this serene, spa-like escape. It feels fresh, balanced, and incredibly inviting.

This space is all about the glow. The soft, sage-green tiles have this wonderful pearlescent quality that catches the overhead light beautifully, making the wall feel alive. I paired it with a rich, dark wood vanity to ground the airiness of the tiles. There’s a real sense of "quiet luxury" here—nothing is shouting, but every material, from the stone vessel sink to the warm lighting, works together to create a space where you can truly unwind.

I’ve always been fascinated by how light interacts with geometry. Here, the diamond-patterned tiles in terracotta and teal offer a playful yet sophisticated energy. It’s a more literal take on Moroccan textures, bringing a sense of movement to the shower area. By keeping the rest of the room in neutral, warm tones with a long wooden counter, the focus stays on the beautiful craftsmanship of the wall. It’s vibrant, artistic, and full of life.

There is something so poetic about an archway. In this design, the arched niche lined with colorful, handmade-look tiles creates a beautiful frame for the vanity. The mix of soft pinks, greens, and creams feels organic and earthy. It’s a very "human" space—you can see the touch of the artisan in the layout. Paired with a thick stone counter and simple lighting, it creates a Mediterranean vibe that is both timeless and trendy.
